Sabrage with Confrerie du Sabre d’Or 2017 at Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok

Bangkok (Thailand) – April 6, 2017 (travelindex) – The Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok, located in the heart of Bangkok, recently held ‘The Confrerie du Sabre d’Or 2017’ to celebrate the noble art of sabrage with the Thai chapter of the Confrerie du Sabre d’Or.Opening champagne with a Sabre was in days gone by a ceremonial occasion but today is often celebrated to promote a lifestyle of fine dining and wine with the art of opening chilled bottles of Champagne with a sabre. The hotel hosted the function on 31st March with a good crowd of people who share a common interest in these presentations. It is a skillful ceremony more than two centuries old demonstrated originally by a dashing young French cavalry officer who would slice off the cork of a champagne bottle with a sabre, rather than easing it out by hand. The presentation was followed by a nine-course menu prepared by the Rembrandt’s internationally acclaimed Executive Chef, Vittorio Bertini who matched the champagne and wines to make the evening the envy of all epicureans.

Mr. Eric Hallin, General Manager of the Rembrandt Hotel said, “We are thrilled the Rembrandt Hotel has embraced the skill of opening champagne with the precision of a sabre. We have been holding this event for many years and will continue to do so in the future.”
